São Vicente Island is one of the Barlavento (Windward) islands of Cape Verde and is widely regarded as the cultural heart of the archipelago. Covering approximately 227 km², the island lies between Santo Antão and Santa Luzia in the Atlantic Ocean. Although relatively small, São Vicente features striking volcanic landscapes, rugged hills, and coastal scenery. Its highest point is Monte Verde, which rises to 744 metres above sea level and offers panoramic views of the island and neighbouring islands.
